Tournament Rules

  1. Don’t get hurt or sick. No Whining for any reason.
  2. Handicaps: Handicaps are based on GHIN handicaps. All players shall play off of the lowest handicap in the match unless otherwise noted
  3. Max Shots: Pick up after a triple bogey: Par 3’s-pick up after 6. Par 4’s – after 7. Par 5’s-after 8.
    A true net triple bogey beats a pickup triple.
    Opposing team identical pickups are halves.
  4. On the Green: Within the leather is a gimme, except when putting for a birdie or eagle.
    Opposing team can give any putt they want to.
  5. Out of Bounds: To speed up play, play as a hazard and drop ball a maximum of two club lengths from out of bounds, no closer to the pin.
    You get the distance with a one shot penalty.
  6. Drink cart: You are encouraged to buy drinks for any group behind or in front of you as a non-reimbursable event.
  7. All expenditures made on behalf of the entire group should be submitted to Peter Christie for later reimbursement.
  8. Tournament Entry Fee: $30 in five dollar bills payable on TUESDAY night to the committee.
  9. Hand Mashie: You are allowed one “THROW, NOT PLACE” during the tournament. You can pick up your ball from any location and throw it without penalty of stroke.
  10. Suggestion: Handicap INDEX of less than 15, play WHITE tees. Handicap INDEX of 16 or higher play WHITE/Gold.

20 Most Important Changes for 2019 are:

1.  Search Time – Reduced from 5 minutes to 3 minutes
2.  Ball Moved During Search – Replace no penalty
3.  Embedded Ball – Free Relief anywhere through the course
4.  Measuring a Drop –  Use longest club ( except putter )
5.  Dropping – Drop from knee height rather than shoulder
6.  Taking stance on wrong green is not permitted
7.  Ball Unintentionally Hits Player of Equipment – No Penalty
8.  Double Hit – No penalty, now only counts as one stroke
9.  Touching sand in bunker incidentally is permitted
10. Loose impediments can be removed anywhere including hazards
11. Dropping a ball out of a bunker – 2 Penalty strokes
12. Water Hazards – Now called Penalty Areas
13. Touching ground in Penalty Area – No Penalty
14. Ball Moves on Green After Being Marked – Replace without penalty
15. Ball Accidentally Moved on Putting Green – Replace no penalty
16. All damage to green can now be repaired
17. Positioning a club for alignment is not permitted
18. Caddie assisting with alignment is now not permitted
19. Putting with flagstick in hole is now permitted
20. Ball wedged against flagstick and side of hole is now deemed as holed.
